Sandhole COVID-19 Announcement
Dear Sandhole Family,
On behalf of the Sandhole team, Ian and I would like to share with you the latest developments in the veterinary profession’s response to the COVID-19 crisis.
Yesterday the British Veterinary Association gave all small animal veterinary practices the directive to close their doors and see only true life-threatening emergencies and urgent cases that would compromise animal welfare.
We have spent the last few hours digesting this news, having a little cry and working on the best way to support you and your pets when they are unwell, whilst adhering to both veterinary and government instruction.
We have concluded that we can do this in the following ways:
- All consultations will be undertaken remotely, via telephone or video call. Only those that we deem to be life threatening emergencies or compromise animal welfare will be seen at Sandhole. In every other case, our team will work with you via remote consultations to assess your pet as best as we can and provide the necessary treatment. We remain totally committed to supporting you and helping look after your pets.
- Repeat medications are available to collect (via our new no contact policy) or be posted out along with flea and worming treatments. We will be doing a post run just once a week on a Wednesday.
- Food can be delivered to your door, at a small cost.
- Regular updates will be posted on our Facebook page, along with useful tips on wellbeing and helping your pets stay healthy.
Our amazing team are here for you now more than ever. We may not be able to see you in person, but you’ll still be able to feel the Sandhole Difference as we adapt to new ways of working in these challenging times. We’re lucky to have the best clients and we’re grateful for your ongoing support. This news may be worrying but by making these changes we can all help keep people safe, limit the spread of the virus and save lives.
Sadly, recent experiences have made it necessary to remind you that we will simply not tolerate any abuse of any sort towards our wonderful team, all of whom are dealing with their own stresses and worries too. Be kind.
I know you may have questions, please feel free to ask them by emailing [email protected] and we will get back to you as soon as we are able. We are still here for you.
Thank you for your support,
Ian and Verity Johnson and the Sandhole team
